The Berlin Metropolitan School is committed to providing an education for children that will enable them to be thoughtful, responsible and knowledgeable citizens of an increasingly interconnected world. It is therefore important to us that we educate the whole child, intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially.
Learning at our school takes place in a bilingual context, where immersion in a second language paves the way for communication as well as for understanding and appreciation of cultural differences. Respect for self and others is the concept that underlies every aspect of our curriculum.
Children enter our school with a range of abilities, talents, and interests. It is our aim to identify and develop these talents, to help children discover the ways in which they learn best and to prepare them for a lifetime of learning. We are committed to individualizing instruction, whether that commitment takes the form of support for a student who is having trouble mastering a basic skill or stimulation for a student whose ability to paint is far beyond her years. A wide variety of curricular and co-curricular offerings give children an opportunity to explore areas of interest and discover new ones.
We believe that children learn best when parents and the school work together as a community to support the work of the school. The principals and teachers communicate with parents on a regular basis and provide numerous opportunities for parent involvement in school life.
